Kelley Blue Book condition tiers. KBB's own Trade-In tool prices "Outstanding" vehicles 10–15% above "Clean" for the same year, mileage, and trim. Cosmetic condition is the single largest driver of asking-price variance for used vehicles 3-7 years old (Edmunds True Market Value data).
Black Book auction data. Vehicles with documented detail history sell 1-3% above category average at wholesale auction. Documentation matters more for premium and truck segments where buyers actively look for service history.
Ceramic-coating uplift. Premium and exotic segments see a measured 2-4% retained-value uplift from documented paint protection. The effect is smaller in economy and midsize segments where buyers are price-shopping rather than condition-shopping.
What this calculator is not. This is an estimate, not a guarantee. Actual resale value depends on dozens of factors — mileage, accident history, service records, market timing, regional demand, and which buyer you find. We use the math to frame the conversation honestly, not to make promises.
