Stain removal
Heavy Stain Extraction tackles the spills and stains that normal vacuuming and wiping cannot touch: coffee, soda, melted crayon, grease, and mystery stains that have been sitting for months. This service uses enzyme-based pre-treatments to chemically break down stain structures, followed by hot-water extraction (professional shampooing) to physically pull contaminants out of the foam padding and fabric fibers.
The process begins with a thorough assessment of each stain. Some stains are organic (food, blood, urine) and respond well to enzyme treatments. Others are petroleum-based (grease, oil, crayon wax) and require solvent pre-treatments. We test each stain in an inconspicuous corner first to ensure our treatment won't cause color bleeding or additional damage. Once we've determined the approach, we apply the appropriate pre-treatment and let it dwell for 10-30 minutes, depending on the stain age and type.
The dwell time is critical. The enzymes or solvents work chemically to break the stain bonds, lifting them away from the fiber. This makes the hot-water extraction phase far more effective. We then use our hot-water extraction machine (professional-grade carpet cleaning equipment) to inject a mixture of hot water and extraction solution into the carpet. Simultaneously, we apply suction to pull the stain, solution, and moisture back out. We repeat this cycle until the stain is gone or we've reached the point of diminishing returns.
Some stains are permanent—old urine stains, set-in bleach, or dyes that have migrated into the fiber itself. We'll be transparent about whether a stain can be fully removed or just significantly lightened. Most fresh spills (within a few days) respond beautifully to this treatment. Stains that have been sitting for months or years are harder but often still improve dramatically.
The service takes 1-2 hours depending on the number and severity of stains. After treatment, the carpet should be allowed to dry for a few hours before heavy use. We provide guidance on how to blot any remaining moisture and how to prevent future staining.
